What Is Chronological Age?
Chronological age is the exact time a person has lived, counted from birth to a reference date. It is commonly written as a combination of years, months, and days. For example, a child may be 7 years, 4 months, and 12 days old on the first day of school.
This kind of age is useful because it is objective. It does not depend on fitness, maturity, appearance, or medical condition. If two people were born on the same date and you use the same reference date, they have the same chronological age.
Chronological age is different from biological age. Biological age tries to describe the condition of the body, while chronological age only describes elapsed calendar time. Both can be useful, but they answer different questions.
